After a one-week intensive pre-season workshop and numerous practices, the KSU debate team made the Purple and White Nation proud at our opening weekend. The squad was split between the University of Northern Iowa and Georgia State University. Although the Georgia State crew faced some very tough opponents, they held in there own winning 7 of 16 debates.
The Wildcats created a Waterloo for their opponents. The Novice team of Scott Crim and Austin Graham took 2nd in their first college tournament. The JV team of Caitlin Reynolds and Ashley Denney finished in 2nd place thanks to some help to Gloria Funcheon and Andy Lee who were walked over in the quarterfinals. The Varsity Team of Rafi Ahmadullah and Brett Farmer not only broke in open but won their first out-round. 7 teams went - 5 teams broke.
There were a multitude of individual speaker awards as well.
