The Kansas State Debate Team had great success in Vegas. No need for shame or for forgetting. No gambles were needed, our debaters just had good hands to start with.
The team of Ashley Denney and Caitlin Reynolds continued their dominance in the Junior Varsity division finishing in 2nd place. After a 5-2 preliminary performance, sheer determination brought them to a finals decision after victories in the quarterfinals and semifinals on 3-0 decisions. Ashley and Caitlin also attained top ten speaker award honors.
The team of Rafi Ahmadullah and Brett Farmer made it to elimination rounds in the open division for the second time this year in as many tournaments. They lost a close debate to KU and guaranteed retribution later in the year.
Beth Mendenhall and Derek Ziegler were invited to participate in the Las Vegas Round Robin tournament prior to the invitational. This was quite an honor to be invited. Although the team record could use improvement, Beth earned 4th overall individual speaker honors.....
